How to: Approve Project Closeout

Recommended actions and strategies
The table below describes actions you can perform to obtain project closeout approval.

What to do

How to do it

1

Hold a final meeting with the project sponsor and designated stakeholders.

Confirm all deliverables and activities performed during the Close Stage are satisfactorily resolved.

2

Obtain final approval signature from the project sponsor and designated stakeholders

The signature indicates the project closeout is complete and the project is over.

Note: If the project sponsor does not approve the project closeout, he or she should indicate the specific reasons for rejection. The project manager should resolve the issues and seek the project sponsor’s approval again.
